gettin' figgy with it

mmmm.....my stomach is growling just thinking about them. we were lucky enough to be invited over to Patrick's sister Carrie's house (how's that for a mouth full) for a lovely surprise birthday dinner for her mother in law Joyce. they had a chef come in and cater an amazing dinner... the first course? figs and goat cheese with a balsamic reduction. to be perfectly honest, i had never tried a fig in my life  and was a little hesitant (since strange fruity thingies are usually not my bag) but as soon as the first bite hit my mouth i knew that these little nuggets of goodness were going to be gracing my kitchen very soon. they're not only tasty but really lovely to look at...and i LOVED how he plated them.

found these images over at the blog accidental mysteries. they are the incredible sculptures of artist Dalton Ghetti made from the graphite tips of pencils...talk about having a steady hand....and an inhuman amount of patience. and the best part? he hasn't sold a single one. he spends months on them and then gives them as gifts to his friends.

scott and jo's wedding in cannon beach and a bird convention

last weekend we headed down to the Oregon coast to help celebrate the union of my most favorite Amsterdam dwelling couple of all time, Scott and Johanna. we danced, we laughed, we cried and we had a spectacular time. congrats again to Bowmans!

and on our way home we took a little detour to drive down the beach in Long Beach, WA....and we came across what appeared to be a sea-gull convention. all that was missing were little bird sized name tags.

i have been TERRIBLE about posting....i know and i'm very sorry for it. life has been hectic, busy and down right crazy. but i promise there are lot's of things on the horizon for me to share. one being a new and improved website, another is a super secret project that i'll be able to discuss in the near future....and much more. i hope i haven't lost your interest friends, i promise to be better. but in the meantime, here's a little somethin' somethin' to brighten your almost friday...i know it did mine.

the museum of flight for fathers day with my boys

what a fun thing to do on father's day or on any other day for that matter. if you haven't been and you like history (even just a little) or you find impressive displays of engineering fascinating, or you just love making your dad's or anyone else who's obsessed with aviation's day....  i highly recommend heading down there. 

i was lucky enough to have both of my important men with me. patrick and my dad reg. it was like watching two kids in a candy shop. and for me, it was a great day of good ol' picture taking.
